Understanding Healthy Veins
Healthy veins are essential for proper blood circulation, yet issues like varicose veins and spider veins can cause discomfort, swelling, and cosmetic concerns.
These conditions may develop gradually or suddenly, and while they are often linked to weakened vein walls or faulty valves, other factors can contribute, including:
- Prolonged standing or sitting
- Pregnancy
- Obesity
- Genetic predisposition
Because vein problems can worsen over time if left untreated, early assessment and modern, minimally invasive treatments such as radiofrequency ablation or foam sclerotherapy are key to restoring comfort, improving appearance, and preventing further complications.
Step 1: Initial Consultation
- Initial face to face appointment to understand your symptoms
- Perform a scan (doppler scan) to assess your veins
- Go through treatment options
- Create a tailored treatment plan
Step 2: Treatment of feeder vein
- Sealing off the main vein trunk that feeds the varicose veins by radiofrequency ablation or foam sclerotherapy
- At the same time the lumpy surface veins (varicosities) can be removed (phlebectomies) if you wish
- Minimally invasive procedure performed under local anaesthetic
Step 3: Treatment of surface veins (lumpy veins)
- Foam sclerotherapy is used to block off any remaining veins after your feeder veins has been sealed off
- You may need more than one session depending on the size and complexity of your veins
- Each session is quick and convenient
Step 4: Check up
- At the check up we do a scan to ensure that the feeder vein is sealed off
- Verify that you are pleased with the results
- Your surgeon will discuss any further treatment you may desire such as microsclerotherapy
